Acupuncture for Acne

Acupuncture is a very effective way to fight acne and with no side effects to worry about. Many of our clients have experienced extremely positive results after this treatment. During acupuncture therapy, you are also required to undergo certain nutritional and lifestyle changes to obtain the best results.
Acne is a very common problem of the pilosebaceous glands. Milder cases perhaps only require external treatments such as a deep cleansing facial. But some more severe cases may require internal and external treatments, otherwise the acne can leave permanent scars when it recedes.
Acupuncture treats acne with no negative side effects.
The cause of acne

• Lung Heat: Symptoms include acne with a predominance of lesions on the forehead and near the nose. There may be slight itching as well. In cases with a rapid onset of new lesions, the patient may complain of chills or sensitivity to Wind. The patient may have an aversion to heat and feel thirsty. The tongue is generally red with a thin yellow coat, and the pulse may be rapid and floating.
• Stomach Heat: Symptoms include acne with a predominance of lesions around the mouth and on the chest, shoulders, and back. The patient may have an aversion to heat; have a large appetite and thirst; and prefer greasy, spicy foods. There may be a tendency to pass dry stools as well. The tongue is usually red with a thick yellow coating, and the pulse is rapid and forceful.
• Toxic Heat: Symptoms include severe acne, strongly inflamed with pus-filled nodules and much reddening of the skin around the lesions. The patient may have an aversion to heat as well and may complain of malaise. The tongue is generally red with a dry yellow coating, and the pulse is rapid.
• Damp Heat: Symptoms include acne composed of deep, pus-filled, inflamed nodules. The skin usually is oily, and the patient may have an aversion to heat. He or she may be thirsty but have no desire to take fluids. The tongue generally is red or crimson, with a greasy or sticky coating. The pulse is rapid and may have slippery or wiry qualities as well.
• Blood Heat: Symptoms include acne that is accompanied by a flushed face and strong aversion to heat. The patient may complain of thirst, dark urine, and dry stools. The tongue usually is red (with a redder tip) and has a yellow coating, or may be crimson in colour. The pulse usually is rapid and thin.

The results for each individual responds differently, depending on his or her age, condition and lifestyle prior to treatment. Noticeable result can be seen after 7th or 8th sessions while Some results may be seen as early as the 2nd or the 3rd session. Hair Removal

Waxing, We use warm Waxing as the method of hair removal which is accomplished by applying a wax thin layer over the skin, a cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top, ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the hair from the root.
Home care advice: we suggest waxing clients wear comfy cotton underwear and do not use a sunbed, go sunbathing, to a sauna or steam treatment (or any heat threatment) for 24 hours after waxing. Thereafter, apply exfoliaton cream on the waxed area to prevent any hair ingrowth.
In Chisense, we can treat almost every area of the body, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. If waxing is done regularly the regrowing hair should be softer and finer.
Waxing should not be done on areas of skin affected by warts, pimples, moles or rashes or on skin that is irritated, chapped or suffering from sunburn. Never apply wax to peeling, broken skin or varicose veins.

Threading is known as "Kai Lian"(Kai: opening; Lian: face) in ancient China, which was a symbol of married women. Threading is widly used in many countries nowadays. Threading is a simple way of removing unwanted hair with reduced skin irritation. The results are neat, with approximate regrowth between 2-4 weeks. Very short hair can be removed. Threading is mainly performed on the face e.g. eyebrows, uplip, chin, side of face, nose, neck and forehead etc.

Eye Care

Eyelash Tinting an approximately 15 minutes treatment, which dyes your existing eyelashes to make them look darker. The colour options depend on your hair colour. We offer black, blue, blue/black, brown and brown/black to suit your complexion.
The first time you have this done, you must visit the salon 24 hours prior to your treatment to have a patch test. The patch test simply involves putting a small amount of the eyelash tint on your inner arm to check for an allergic reaction.
During the actual treatment, the therapist will place cotton wool under your closed eyes, then carefully dab the dye onto your eyelashes. The dye will then be removed after ten minutes with water. Unless the dye gets into your eyes, which will cause stinging, the treatment should not hurt.

Eyebrow Shaping/Styling The treatment starts with a consultation on a suitable eyebrow shape. Cleansing the eyebrow area, the hair removal is performanced by the method of either threading or warm waxing. A calming lotion is applied to soothe the skin afterwards.

Body Care

Back Cleansing is a one hour treatment with deep cleansing and is a relaxing experience for an area which is often neglected. It includes dry brushing the back to activate back muscles and stimulating the dead skin cells. A thorough cleansing then application of toner will remove the excess grease and debris. An exfoliating mixture of organic oil and fine oats will then be gently massaged over your skin. Steam and ozone opens the pores, to allow absorption of nourishing creams and oils and to soften the skin surface ready for removal of deeper layers of the debris. With a combination of aromatherapy oils and a base oil, to suit your skins needs, a 15 minute massage will proceed to increase the blood supply, tone the muscles, remove toxins from the skin's surface and encourage absolute stress-free relaxation.

Nail Care

Manicure is an approximately 40 minute treatment which includes: filing, shaping of the nails, tidying up cuticles and applying polish. Price for a session is £20.
Pedicure is an approximately 50 minute treatment which includes: filing, shaping of the nails, tidying up cuticles and applying polish. Price for a session is £25.
