About Chi

The very substance of which a man is born is the same as the substance that comprises the whole Universe That is Energy--Nei Jing
In Chinese philosophy it is believed that the Universe and everything in it is composed of vital energy or life force that vibrates at different frequencies and swirls in and around every living thing, building, and space.
Energy from the Sun, Earth and air breathes life force into everyone and everything. Put simply, it is that which gives life.
The Chinese name for this universal energy is Qi or Chi and it is believed to come in two main forms.
Innate Chi is the spiritual force that each person brings into life.
Acquired Chi is developed through thinking, breathing, drinking, eating, moving and sleeping in the right way. It is that simple!
The word Tao(Dao道) means, "the way of the right action" and stems from a work called the Tao Te Ching(Daodejing道德经) reputedly written by Lao Tzu (Laozi 老子) in the 6th Century BC. The Tao is the One

From the One come Yin and Yang From these two, Creative Chi From Chi, Ten Thousand Things The Forms of all Creation

The Ancient Chinese saw every aspect of creation as the result of the weaving together of the two expressions of Chi known as Yin and Yang and believed that our health was dependent on a balance between the two. Pain, dysfunction and disease are all caused by energy imbalances and can be corrected by right action.
By balancing Chi in this way we encourage its flow throughout the body, which strengthens any weak points and reinforces our strong points, thus providing a defence against the insults of air pollution, toxins in our foods and water and the stresses of our fast paced lives.
Chi is an intelligent force and knows how to correct most imbalances within the body, given the right circumstances. However, in many cases we are too far out of balance or do not know how to create these circumstances.
Western Medicine is generally better adapted to dealing with acute problems because it tends to approach health primarily at a physical level by treating the symptoms of pain, dysfunction and disease.
It is, however, less successful with chronic conditions because it doesn’t attempt to root out the cause of these symptoms which is often the result of an energy imbalance at an emotional, mental or spiritual level.
Taoism focuses on achieving harmony and balance by reacquainting the body with the mind because energy follows thought.
Here at Chisense we realise that no single discipline will provide total mental, physical and spiritual health and fitness which is why we have combined Feng Shui, Corrective Exercise, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching, Reflexology, Neuromuscular Therapy and Beauty Therapy to create balance and wholeness by integrating mind, body and spirit thus providing a blueprint for living.
Just as the bud of a flower contains within it the innate form of the perfect flower, so we all contain within ourselves the innate form of our own perfection. Under the proper conditions of Sun, water and nutrients the bud unfolds to reveal the flower. Likewise, through the proper application of Chisense principles, that which is perfect within us begins to unfold.
Adapted from a quote by Sifu Fong Ha At Chisense we also believe that every one of our clients is unique and individual and therefore no two treatment programmes are the same. Five Elements

Live of Yin Yang
and Tai Ji, Tai Ji gives Yin Yang birth,
Yin Yang generates 5 elements and 8 Gua

Wood represents the directions of East and the Chen Trigrams 3. It also represents the South East and the Xun Trigrams 4.
Wood is creative and innovative. Wood can be pliant and bending (willow) or strong and unyielding (oak). Wood is sociable and community minded. Wood also represents the colour green, the season spring, and the direction east. Wood also represents birth and early childhood. In the eastern part of the Forbidden City in Beijing the buildings were covered with green tiles, because they housed the young prince.

Fire represents the South and the Li Trigram 9.
Fire gives energy and enthusiasm, but can also be a sign of danger. When too much fire is present, it can be destructive. Fire warms and cheers, but it can also burn and destroy. FIre is the element of the natural leader. Fire represents red, summer and south. Fire represents the growing years before puberty.

Earth element is often confused with soil, which is only part of the element, it needs to be combined with rock, clay, and stone etc. i.e. a terracotta pot filled with soil is a perfect earth element, or a clay statue. Earth colours are yellow, beige but not as effective as the real element itself. Earth represents the North East or the Gen Trigram 8. It also represents the South West or the Kun Trigram 2. In addition, it represents the "Centre" of the Master Trigram 5.
Earth gives stability and also relates to real estate and legacies. Earth is patient, just, honest and methodical. However, it can also be smothering and demanding. Earth represents the colour yellow, the center and the teenage years.

Metal is the Dui Trigram 7 in the West. It is also the Qian Trigram 6 in the North West.
Metal indicates harvest, business and success. This is usually financial success. On the negative side, metal can also indicate a sword or a knife and be destructive and violent. The color is usually white, but can also be gold. It symbolizes autumn and west.

Water is a very powerful element to use, it should always be clear and free flowing, never let it go stagnant, as this will create many problems. A fountain or aquarium is ideal or a simple fishpond in the garden. Water has always been associated with power. If you look at most Cities today, they are either positioned near the water or have large lakes or rivers close by. Most ocean-side and lakeside homes are also sought after. The colours blue or black can replace water. Water represents the Kan Trigram 1 in the North. Water indicates travel, communication, and learning. It also relates to literature, the arts, and the media. Water can be both gentle (soft rainfall) and violent (a hurricane). Water nourishes all living things, but can also gradually wear away the hardest rock. It represents the color black, winter, and north. Water represents the final years, old age.

Yin Yang

This Simbol(Yin-Yang) in terms of ancient Chinese philosophy, represents how universal works. The outer circle is "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause universal changes to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other. While "yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.

The relationship between Yinyang and Taiji five elements

Yin and Yang theory is a very important part of Chinese traditional philosophy and science.

Tai Ji means the primary point of universal. Chinese ancient philosopher thought this point is unlimited so it also called no-Ji
form
Mr Zhou Dun yi (1017-1073)Song dynasty of China, philosopher, He concerned Tai Ji as ---
No Ji so Tai ji. Tai Ji moves so Yang born, Moving Ji so Yin born, Yin Ji makes movement again. Therefore, both move and still are roots of Ji; Yin and Yang make Ji exiting both sides. Yin Yang move and flow so it generates Water, Fire, wood, Metal and Earth. Five elements stay in order as well as the four seasons in turn. Five elements makes Yin Yang, Yin Yang makes Tai Ji, Tai Ji makes universal origin which was non-Ji.

This means that the universal including heaven, mankind, earth is initially from Tai Ji. Therefore, Tai Ji became the root and principle of the heaven, man and the earth. So that the human behaviors along with the rule of the Tai Ji. What is that?

The rule of Tai Ji is Move and Still.
Move generates Yang, Still generate Yin; Yin and Yang separated into two end points, which are the heaven and earth.
Yang is constantly changing and Yin is continually adjusting so that adjustment and changing produced Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth, which are 5 elements.
The birth of human was the expression of law of Yin and Yang. Yin is woman and Yang is man. Then generation changes one by one forever no-ending.

Therefore, comparing with other things in the universal, the human is the most talent thing because it got the essential of YinYang five elements from universal. But this does not mean the human would be superior of other animals.

We concerned human has greater feature because human has heart, which contains much more thought and morality but animals. If a person does not have this special heart so it would be tsshe same as the animal or even worse.
