Corrective Exercise
Unlike traditional Personal Training and rehabilitative approaches Corrective Exercise considers the whole body as a complex system of systems and sets about correcting muscle imbalances, postural distortions and impaired function by re-educating the body from the inside out thereby eliminating pain and preventing future injury.
It is a proven fact that when the body functions better on the inside we begin to feel and look better on the outside. There are, however, no short cuts or quick fixes for achieving optimal physical appearance and function but, by building a stronger foundation the results are longer lasting and more rewarding.
Firstly, a comprehensive assessment of posture, spinal and pelvic biomechanics, muscle length and tension and movement is carried out, after which, a highly individualised and specific exercise programme is designed to systematically address the assessment findings in order of priority whilst taking into account time commitments, equipment availability and the principles of Chisense.
Neuromuscular Therapy
The St. John Method of Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is based on research that identifies the fundamental causes of pain. The techniques are supported by scientific neurological laws that explain how the Central Nervous System initiates pain responses in the body and allow the therapist to locate the source of the pain.
NMT is a whole-body approach to treatment and so many people find that when they are treated for their back pain, other problems they thought couldn’t be helped or were less significant such as knee pain, headaches and bladder dysfunction are also addressed.
The main goal of this type of therapy is to achieve structural balance in the body and develop a precise treatment protocol for rehabilitating any affected soft tissue.
NMT is a useful adjunct to Chisense Corrective Exercise because there are often occasions where tension in the soft tissue which contributes to muscle imbalance, postural distortion and impaired function cannot be released through corrective stretching alone and so by palpating the tissues to locate and eliminate spasms and trigger points the therapist can restore postural alignment, proper movement and flexibility and the flow of blood and Chi to the tissues whilst also removing pain.
Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching
Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching focuses on the six foundational principles of thinking, breathing, drinking, eating, moving and sleeping right in order to build reserves of Acquired Chi within the body.
Poor diet and lifestyle choices coupled with conventional medicine have been shown to over stimulate the Sympathetic branch of the Autonomic Nervous System causing an excess of Yang energy which leads to a depletion of Yin energy and eventually disease and degeneration.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, an inability to lose weight, and repeated attacks of colds or flu are all examples of metabolic imbalance in the body and at Chisense clients can be assessed to determine their own individual Metabolic Type so that the optimal foods to balance their system and control cravings, hunger, fluctuating energy levels and the inability to focus mentally can be recommended.
In addition twenty-eight different organ and glandular systems are assessed and hair, saliva and urine samples can be analysed to monitor the success of the programme.
Each client will also receive a comprehensive report detailing the findings of their assessments and a plan of action to help reduce physiological load and balance their energy through healthy eating and lifestyle recommendations including Chi-cultivating exercises which draw on the principles of Chisense.
